MEGAN REITENOUR HAS DOUBLE HONORS WEEKEND
CONCORD, NC – Megan Reitenour attended the 2009 NASCAR Whelen All American National Banquet at the Concord Convention Center in Concord, NC on Friday, November 13. This black tie event was by invitation only. Reitenour received a personal invite from NASCAR as a representative of the 2009 NASCAR Drive for Diversity Team.
Hosts, Mike Joy and Dr. Dick Berggren started the festivities for the evening and comedian personality, Gary Gulman entertained the honorees and special guests in attendance. 2009 National Champion Phillip Morris, and Wendell Scott Awarded Winner, Jason Romero were recognized for their outstanding performances in the series and also invited to the podium to say a few words. All state champions were welcomed to the stage to be recognized for their achievements. Other awards given included, Craftsman Mechanic of the Year, National Rookie of the Year, and Car Owner and Crew Chief of the Year.
On Saturday, Nov. 14, Reitenour attended the second banquet of the weekend. The Tri-County Motor Speedway banquet was held at the Cedar Rock County Club in Lenoir, NC. This event kicked off with a cocktail and social hour, which followed the welcoming by Camping World East/West Speed TV announcer, Derek Penceilo. The prayer was given by Tri-County’s track Chaplin, Steve Parker.
The top ten drivers in each series division were honored for their accomplishments. Reitenour finishing fourth in the series division and was honored for her Rookie of the Year achievement in the Late Model Stock Division at Tri-County Speedway in Hudson, NC. She was also awarded with a certificate from NASCAR for placing in the top five hundred drivers in the Nation of the NASCAR Whelen All American Series, which consisted of over 10,000 drivers.
Reitenour said, “Attending the awards banquets was so exciting for me. It was a great end to a very successful season. I had a wonderful time getting to see my Drive for Diversity teammates and also my competitors and friends from Tri-County Motor Speedway. I would like to thank NASCAR for the wonderful opportunity they gave me with the Drive for Diversity Program. I would like to thank Leicht Motorsports and Blair Addis, my partners, Haus Builders, Nestor Insurance Agency, Fox Motors, Impact Racing, Comp Cal, Stuckey Motorsports, MPM Marketing, PR Image Design, and Project Podium for all their help and support this season. I would like to thank my parents, Bill and Tabatha Reitenour, Tri County Motor Speedway officials and grounds crew and all my friends and family for all the love and support they have given me. The season has come to an end, but tomorrow is another day and I’m really excited for the season ahead of us.”
